First Vice President of the Business Chamber of Asian & Gulf Countries, David Tsirdava has said that a Turkish company is interested in the construction of the Anaklia deep water port.

"The largest Turkish holding, which has a lot of work experience related to ports, is interested in the construction of the Anaklia deep water port. They were informed about the studies conducted so far. Now we are waiting for more information from the state structures, at this stage we are refraining from naming the company. I can tell you one thing, the Turkish holding company is represented in areas such as port management and related logistics, construction in various fields, agricultural machinery production, metallurgy, paper and sugar production, military equipment and other areas. It is widely represented and is one of the largest holding companies in Turkey," - Tsirdava told the Accent.

In December 2022 Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili revealed that the Anaklia deep water port will be built with the government’s participation, which will subsequently own 51% of it.

The Prime Minister noted that an international competition will be announced to select the partners and companies which will participate in the project.
