Levan Mgaloblishvili, the Chairman of the Government of Abkhazia, made an emotional plea for unity and reconciliation at a government session in Anaklia, addressing citizens living in Russian-occupied Abkhazia in the Abkhaz language.
According to the Government of Abkhazia, during his speech, he emphasized the importance of moving toward mutual forgiveness and understanding,
"Now is the time to take significant steps toward each other," Mgaloblishvili stated, emphasizing the deep personal connection he holds with the Abkhaz language due to his maternal heritage.
He expressed hope for a future where citizens of Abkhazia could live in harmony and pride, respecting each other's traditions and culture.
„We will begin to understand each other, to live together and take pride in each other, in each other's traditions, culture, and bravery,” he added.
Mgaloblishvili's message focused on healing the wounds left by past conflicts, but he expressed confidence that the people of Abkhazia could return to a state of unity and dignified coexistence. "No one was left untouched by pain in those years, but we can return to our foundation—our unity," he added, according to the Government of Abkhazia.
The Chairman concluded his speech with a heartfelt reminder, "What enmity has torn down, love has rebuilt. Now is the time for love, for us to be together again, and to take big steps toward each other."
