"Even if they say, 'I will arrest you all,' even threats are useless. This is yet another proof of Russian-style governance," Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili responded to the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which warns the organizers of the protest rally not to go beyond the limits established by the law on assembly/manifestation, otherwise the police will take all appropriate legal measures to suppress the illegal action.

According to the President, this is yet another violation of the main principle of the Constitution - the right to demonstrate and assemble.

For information, the Ministry of Internal Affairs responds to the planned protest rally before the convocation of the twelfth convocation of the Parliament and warns the organizers not to go beyond the limits established by the Law on Assembly/Manifestation and to refrain from unlawful actions. As the agency explains, otherwise, the police will take all appropriate legal measures to prevent illegal actions. In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs indicates in its statement that the law directly prohibits the blocking of a strategic or special importance object, which is a punishable act according to Article 222 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
