U.S. Embassy: “The ‘Agile Spirit’ exercises clearly demonstrate the United States’ commitment to the stability of the Black Sea region, as well as the strength and importance of allied cooperation.”

“The exercises clearly demonstrate the United States’ commitment to the stability of the Black Sea region, as well as the strength and importance of allied cooperation,” stated the U.S. Embassy in Georgia, commenting on the NATO multinational military exercise “Agile Spirit” held in the country.

According to a statement released by the Embassy on social media, the purpose of the exercise is to strengthen partnerships and promote regional security.

“Strengthening partnerships and promoting regional security!

Recently, as part of the Agile Spirit 2025 exercises, soldiers from the 1st Squadron of the 91st Cavalry Regiment of the U.S. Army’s 173rd Airborne Brigade conducted a convoy operation alongside their Georgian counterparts.

The convoy operation was carried out from the Senaki training range to the Vaziani training range. These exercises clearly demonstrate the United States’ commitment to the stability of the Black Sea region, as well as the strength and importance of allied cooperation,” the statement from the U.S. Embassy reads.

On July 25, the multinational military exercise Agile Spirit 2025, organized by the U.S. military command and hosted by Georgia for the 12th time, was officially launched at the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) in Krtsanisi.

Notably, no high-ranking members of the Georgian Government attended the opening ceremony—including the Minister of Defense himself.

Opening remarks were delivered by:

Paata Patiashvili, First Deputy Minister of Defense of Georgia

Major General Irakli Chichinadze, Deputy Chief of Defense Forces

Brigadier General Terry Tillis, Commanding General of the 7th Army Training Command (U.S. Army Europe and Africa).

The exercise involves defense forces from Georgia, the U.S., Turkey, Ukraine, Germany, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, and Bulgaria, as well as two multinational units.

Part of the drills began on July 21 with a U.S.-Turkish airborne operation near Adana, Turkey.

Former Defense Minister Tina Khidasheli criticized the absence of Georgian leadership, writing on Facebook: “Apparently the ‘deep state’ set up this exercise, and they’re hiding in fear, making sure not to provoke Moscow. Today, if you’re not at the drills, you’re not even a horse. A horse would’ve shown up.”

According to Georgia’s Ministry of Defense, Agile Spirit 2025 aims to enhance regional cooperation, increase readiness, and improve interoperability and operational capabilities among allied forces.
