Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said on Saturday that anyone who wants to develop Anaklia should bring funding as soon as possible and the government will do its best.

“Today there is an epidemic in the country. COVID-19 pandemic is a global challenge. Each GEL of additional investments means additional jobs for our citizens. Today we face the challenges that Poti port and Anaklia deep sea port should be constructed and if anyone has any resources and can invest in Anaklia or any other major project - be it Nenskra, Khudoni, Namakhvani, other investment, I promise you that each GEL will be counted and the government of Georgia will provide all kinds of support to create additional jobs for our citizens. The development of the Poti port is limited, its maximum development is about 6 million additional tones, and this means that Anaklia deep sea port, which was estimated at 100 million additional tons, is our country’s future and strategic project. Therefore, anyone who wants to develop Anaklia should bring funding as soon as possible and we will do our best. Poti port must fulfill its commitment within 2 years. Poti Port is committed to invest $ 350 million over the next two years and create at least 1 500 jobs during the construction phase,” PM Gakharia told journalists in Zugdidi.

According to him, the government will do its best to support all businessmen who can create local production and that will be able to replace imports in all directions (be grocery programs or industrial products).
