Russian-occupied Georgian region of Abkhazia’s de facto Foreign Minister Daur Kove deceives media representatives and Abkhazian society.
In particular, on May 29 Daur Kove told an Abkhaz journalist: “Slackers’ talks, that Vanuatu and Tuvalu reversed their recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as independent states, are false, because Abkhazia has not recently received any official acts or notes about reversing these decisions.”
Kove added that the Abkhaz delegation participated in the festive events held in Nauru a short time ago. “Meetings were also held with the Prime Ministers of Vanuatu and Tuvalu and future cooperation issues were discussed in detail,” he added.
With regard to this issue Accent contacted on May 30 the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
Accent was told that Kove’s statement is false and in order to prove this they provided the news agency with relevant protocols.
“As a result of the proactive work of Georgia and the international community, two states - Vanuatu and Tuvalu reversed their previous decisions on recognition so-called independence of occupied regions of Georgia and strongly supported Georgia's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. Today, Georgia has diplomatic relations with Vanuatu and Tuvalu.
It should be emphasized that in the protocols on the establishment of diplomatic relations, Vanuatu (2013) and Tuvalu (2014) unequivocally recognize and support "the territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders, including its regions - the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region / South Ossetia.
Georgia actively cooperates with these states within bilateral and multilateral international formats,” Georgian Foreign Ministry told Accent.
