The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Natia Turnava confirms that the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project is a priority for the Georgian government.

"We are very hopeful that the Anaklia project will be implemented in a planned manner and the Georgian government spares no effort for it. We are involved in negotiations with the Anaklia Development Consortium as well as with banks. These negotiations are underway smoothly. They have not raised any special, additional issue during recent days.” Turnava said.

When asked about the possible impact (on the Anaklia project) of investors’ plans regarding the construction of a deep-water port in Poti, Turnava said: “any project, which will pose a threat to the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project, will not be supported.”

The Government of Georgia has postponed the Anaklia Development Consortium’s obligations by the end of 2019.
