Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev supports the creation of the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Armenia format. He spoke aboit it at a press conference held after meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibasvili.

"After the second Karabakh war, a new reality was created. I informed the Prime Minister of Georgia about the ongoing peace talks between us and Armenia. We believe that this conflict needs to be resolved by signing a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia. We shared five basic principles with Armenia and we hope that Armenia will show political will and sign the peace agreement. If this happens, peace will be established in the South Caucasus and new opportunities for cooperation will exist. Today we have the opportunity to hold consultations between Azerbaijan-Armenia-Georgia. If Armenia is ready, we will be ready to start the format today," Aliyev said.

The President of Azerbaijan is on a 1-day visit to Tbilisi. The PM hosted President Aliyev at Chateau Mukhrani, where, according to the Georgian government’s press release, the two sides discussed the security environment in the region and the world, as well as the strategic partnership between the two countries, and increasing cooperation in trade and the economy. After their meeting, PM Garibashvili and President Aliyev led a joint press conference.
