Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met on Monday with Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev in Tbilisi.
"Azerbaijan is the most important strategic partner of Georgia," Garibashvili said at a briefing after the meeting with Aliyev.
"I welcome the initiative you voiced in Prague to create a joint tripartite discussion format in the South Caucasus. We also talked about existing economic, energy, trade, transport projects and their importance. Georgia is one of the most important countries and friends of Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan is the most important strategic partner of Georgia. We also discussed the important strategic projects implemented by us, which can be said to be of historical importance, such as the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and the southern natural gas corridor projects. We also talked about the importance of the Middle Corridor.” Irakli Garibashvili said.
