Kyiv asked Tbilisi to hand over the Buk missiles, which were given to Georgia by Ukraine during the 2008 war, - reads an article by the Ukrainian Chargé d'Affaires in Georgia, Andrii Kasianov, published in the Ukrainian media.

"The Ukrainian side is consistent in supplying weapons, military equipment and ammunition to all international partners, including Georgia. In particular, Kyiv asked for the transfer of the Buk missiles, which Ukraine gave Georgia during the 2008 war," Kasyanov said.

According to him, Ukraine's request included the Javelin systems transferred by the United States of America to Georgia, and regarding the latter, there was not only consent from the United States, but even a proposal to replace them with new complexes.

"Despite the fact that the Government of Georgia has categorically refused military aid, Ukraine is against using this issue in internal political disputes and denies any accusation of trying to drag Georgia into a war with the Russian Federation," Kasianov said.
