Within the framework of the World Economic Forum 2023 in Davos, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili spoke on Thursday about the Anaklia deep water port project.
According to the PM, the deep sea port of Anaklia will be built with the government’s participation, which will subsequently own 51% of it.
The Prime Minister noted that an international competition will be announced to select the partners and companies which will participate in the project.
"This project should be implemented in order to increase Georgia's capabilities," said Garibashvili at a discussion "how the Middle Corridor of Eurasia has turned from a path to a highway” held within the framework of the World Economic Forum.
"Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan said that there is a growing potential in the ports of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan also has the same growing potential, Georgia can transport 550 thousand tons to Poti and 20,000 tons to Batumi, this is not enough, I want to implement this project to increase Georgia's capabilities," he added.
