Georgia's Interior Minister Vakhtang Gomelauri has said that NATO recognised Georgia as an operational partner.

Speaking in front of the Georgian lawmakers, he said that "in 2022, Georgia's Border Police Coast Guard tactical law enforcement units successfully completed a four-level NATO assessment."

"The North Atlantic Council has made a positive decision regarding recognising Georgia as an operational partner of Operation Sea Guardian in the Mediterranean. It recognised Georgia as an operational partner. This decision is also the beginning of a new stage of deepening practical cooperation between the command of the NATO Naval Forces and the Coast Guard of the Border Police", said Vakhtang Gomelauri.
