The Embassies of the UK and Romania will play the role of joint Contact Point Embassies between NATO and Georgia for two years.

"It is mostly a public diplomacy exercise done by the two Embassies. We will focus in introducing NATO to Georgian public opinion. We will try to work more in the regions," Romanian Ambassador to Georgia, Razvan Rotundu told the Accent.

As for the accession of Georgia, the Romanian Ambassador said that "the principle of open doors is reaffirmed in the Strategic Concept of NATO."

"It should be taken into account the fact that NATO functions by consensus so all the decisions, including the expansion must be approved by all the Allies," he added.

NATO Contact Point Embassies in partner countries have an important role in advancing the relationship between the Alliance and that particular country.

The duration of a CPE mandate is of two years each and includes supporting for all NATO activities, especially those on public diplomacy, as well as taking the necessary steps for providing a communication channel of NATO politics in the partner state.
