Irakli Garibashvili: We, of course, will not allow any disorder or destabilization by such nobodies, such destructive and radical forces in the country

We, of course, will not allow any disorder or destabilization by such nobodies, such destructive and radical forces in the country; the state today is strong and up to the task, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated at today’s Government meeting.

According to the Prime Minister, these people have learned nothing, they are incapable of analyzing, and it is a fact that, even after all these years, they are stuck in the past. They think it is 2003, but now it is 2023.

“This morning, the public heard information spread by the State Security Service and concrete evidence of how riots are being prepared in the country. You know that we informed the public of this a while ago. We exposed the plans and intentions devised by these destructive forces, enemy forces operating inside the country, anti-national and anti-state forces, who enjoy help from abroad, and they, as you have seen, enjoy active engagement from foreign countries. Of course, it is appalling that foreign citizens come to the country and hold trainings. All this is passed off as trainings for representatives of art and culture, though in reality calls and training are carried out as to how make a revolution and forcefully remove the Government. These people must have learned nothing. They cannot analyze. It is a fact that, after all these years, they are stuck in the past. They think it is 2003. But it is 2023, and we have been in power for over eleven years. We, of course, will not allow any disorder or destabilization by such nobodies, such destructive and radical forces in the country. I would like to tell you that the state today is strong and up to the task. Once again, I want to warn these people, both the destructive forces operating inside the country and their supporters abroad that we will not allow any kind of disorder in the country. We will not allow such destructive forces to ruin our country once again. We have been through more than one crisis in the country, from the 1990s to civil unrest, wars, and all kinds of destabilization. This is the only uninterrupted period of peace and stability that our team, our Government has brought about in the country. We are well aware of their plans and goals. Their goal is, of course, violence, disorder, destabilization. They, of course, dislike the success and prosperity that we have today in the country. They dislike the fact that today we have maintained peace and stability for the country. Of course, they want to forcefully remove the Government and open up a second front in the country. This has been and, unfortunately, remains their goal,” Irakli Garibashvili said.

According to the Head of Government, the statement by the State Security Service is preventive by nature and is backed up by concrete evidence. The Prime Minister once again urged all citizens to exercise maximal prudence and avoid being used by such destructive forces.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the public will hear a relevant, transparent explanation from the local USAID office because, unfortunately, that said persons were here on their invitation and with their financing.

“These statements disseminated by us and the State Security Service are preventive in nature, warning statements in the form of concrete pieces of evidence. Thus, I once again urge everyone to exercise maximal prudence and avoid being used by such destructive forces. We all remember well the events of March, how students were used and then abandoned. Of course, this is what will happen again; how they made them hurl Molotov cocktails at police officers. These are all their dirty, anti-national, anti-state plans. We will resist this and will not allow it. Everyone setting anti-state plans in motion will be punished with maximal severity. I also want to express hope that we and the public will hear a relevant, transparent explanation from the local USAID office because, unfortunately, said persons were here on their invitation and with their financing. This is, of course, a sad fact. However, we will, of course, wait for their official explanation, information. We enjoy years-long cooperation with USAID across a variety of areas. And this is why such facts are regrettable,” the Prime Minister stated.
