Acting Under Secretary of State of the United States for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Manisha Singh has said that the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project will strengthen Georgia's economy and its partnership with the U.S.

“Anaklia Deep Sea Port will increase international trade relations via the Black Sea,” Singh said at the Trans-Caspian Forum held at the Foreign Committee of the House of Representatives.

"The Trans-Caspian Region was an unchanged transit route for thousands of years. This route is still important today. In this context, the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project is very important. Georgia and the United States are currently working together to build this port.  The Anaklia Port is planned to enter into commercial operation for December 2020. This will strengthen the economy of Georgia and insure more connections between Europe and the entire Caspian region. And Georgia will become an even stronger partner of the United States in the field of trade,” said Singh, according to Georgian TV station Rustavi 2.
