UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly on Friday said the UK plans to back Georgia in its defense against cyber attacks and “continue on what the UK believes to be the right path towards a closer working relationship with Europe, the EU, and also with NATO.”

In response to the question by GPB First Channel’s reporter pertaining to the NATO member states’ support, James Cleverly went on to say that the UK plans to back free open media, as well as Georgia to maintain its independent institutions.

“I have just come back from visiting a community that has been cut in half – Russian troops just on one side of the valley and the road from one side there is other blockaded, so we can see the physical presence of Russian troops here in Georgia; now we lot seeing so much conflict here as we saw in previous years, but I do recognize that Georgia is being constantly put on the attack in the hybrid form of aggression.

so we know there have been cyber attacks, and we are seeking to support Georgia in its defense against cyber attacks, we know that there has been manipulation of public opinion and there have been attempts to distort the political environment here in Georgia and of course, there has been a huge amount of propaganda

so we are looking to support is free open media, we look to support Georgia maintain its independent institutions, we are planning to support Georgia in its defense against cyber attacks, and continue on what the UK believes to be the right path towards a closer working relationship with Europe, EU, and also with NATO,” UK Foreign Secretary underscored.
